Years Experience
Marcus Stokes is a film and television director known for visually driven storytelling and emotionally grounded performances.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology, then spent three years living in rural Japan as an English teacher, an experience that deepened his appreciation for restraint, space, and cross-cultural communication. Marcus later completed a master's degree in Architecture at UC Berkeley, where an internship at Industrial Light & Magic led to a full-time position.
At Lucasfilm and ILM, he worked in visual effects on the Star Wars prequels, and went on to contribute to dozens of major studio films, including The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, and Star Trek Into Darkness.
As a director, Marcus has directed more than 40 episodes of television, including work on 9-1-1, The Walking Dead, and The Flash. He also directed his debut feature film, State of Consciousness. His work centers on tense, character-driven stories grounded in real emotional stakes.
